In ODI cricket, fifty hat-tricks have been taken by bowlers to date. In men’s ICC Cricket World Cup history, there have been just 11 instances of a bowler achieving this feat.

Former India pacer Chetan Sharma was the first to take a World Cup hat-trick. He did this against New Zealand in the 1987 edition.
Sri Lanka's Chaminda Vaas took a hat-trick with the first three balls of an ODI in the World Cup. He did this against Bangladesh in the 2003 edition.
Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga is the only man who has taken two hat-tricks in World Cup history.
Pakistan's Saqlain Mushtaq and South Africa's JP Duminy are the only spinners who have taken hat-tricks in World Cup history.
