PSL: Karachi Kings Appoint David Warner As Captain For 2025 Season

Pakistan Super League: Former Australia opener David Warner has been appointed as Karachi Kings captain for the 2025 season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), commencing on April 11.This will be Warner’s maiden appearance in the PSL after becoming the first pick of Karachi Kings in the Players Draft 2025 held at the iconic Hazuri Bagh in Lahore on January 13, underscoring the franchise’s confidence in his abilities.

Warner was acquired by Karachi Kings for a record-breaking USD 3,00,000, making him the most expensive signing in PSL history.

“The dynamic left-handed batsman, renowned for his aggressive leadership and match-winning prowess, will spearhead the franchise’s campaign in the highly anticipated season,” the franchise said in a release on Monday.

“Warner, a World Cup-winning veteran and one of the most explosive openers in T20 cricket brings a wealth of experience to the role. With over a decade of leadership in global leagues, including the Big Bash League (BBL) and Indian Premier League (IPL), Warner is poised to inspire a fresh chapter for the Kings,” it added.

Warner will replace Shan Masood in the leadership role. Karachi Kings finished fifth in the six-team competition last year with only four wins in 10 matches. They have won the PSL title once in the 2020 season.
