Everyone expected New Zealand to win here, but the way Afghanistan turned out to be on the day was commendable. They outplayed New Zealand on the field and registered a massive 84-run win.
With this, Afghanistan have strengthened their position at the top of the group and are certain to make it through. It started with the toss, as New Zealand won the toss and put Afghanistan to bat. The Afghan openers gave yet another 100-run stand. Rahmanullah Gurbaz played a brilliant inning with 80 runs off 56 balls. Afghanistan finished at 159/6. Chasing the score, New Zealand couldn't get going with the bat. Only two batters scored in double digits, and the third highest score was 10, which was extra.
